I learned to craft from three remarkable women β my grandma who didn't mess around, my birth mother who thought hot glue could fix literally anything (it cannot), and my mentor Diane who's been opening craft doors for me since I was 17.

Now, pull up a chair. Watch where you sit β there might be a glue gun on it. π₯

"Hey, where are we going? And what am I doing in this handbasket?" β Ocean π
Hi. I'm Ocean. π
I've been making things my whole life β not because I chose to, but because the women who raised me didn't give me much of a choice.
My grandma put a crochet hook in my hand when I was little, taught me to chain stitch, and when I proudly chained an entire ball of yarn she pulled every last stitch out and handed it back. "Now learn a new stitch." No trophy. Just the next lesson.
My birth mother introduced me to hot glue and genuinely believed it could fix anything. She was wrong every single time and never once changed her approach. I loved her for it anyway.
And then there's Diane β my craft mentor since I was 17 β who opened up the entire world of making things to me. She's been making handmade gifts for my family for decades and every single one is a treasure.
Three women. A whole lot of yarn, hot glue, and life lessons. That's where Shore Thing Crafts comes from.
This page is for Gen X crafters β the ones who were told to sit down and make something. The ones with bins of supplies, strong opinions, and a project they started in 2019 they're not ready to talk about.
β Real tutorials β mistakes included
